It’s official: Labubu Mania has exploded (and now you can make one with crochet!)

But what are Labubu?

Labubu was born in 2015 from the pencil of illustrator Kasing Lung, thanks to a collaboration with Pop Mart, the Chinese giant of blind boxes and designer toys. It belongs to the narrative universe The Monsters and combines Asian pop aesthetics, dark fairytales, and an irresistible expression that's part melancholic, part mischievous.

Labubu has taken over the TikTok feed, the hearts of Gen Z, the wishlists of adult collectors, and the bags of fashion lovers: as a keychain, mascot, or collectible item, it has become a cult object.

The good news? YOU can make one

We know finding a Labubu can be tricky (and expensive). But creativity always finds a way! That’s why we’ve launched a crochet version of Labubu, sweet and totally doable even if you’re just a bit familiar with crochet.
