How to Decorate a Crochet Bag
Three different approaches to personalise your bag:
- Pendants and charms → the quickest method: clip onto a carabiner or the side ring. Interchangeable: swap the charm, swap the look. Perfect for those who love to switch things up.
- Fringes and feathers → the most dramatic method: sew them to the top edge or the side seams. Ostrich feathers for evening bags, leather fringes for a casual look, raffia for summer bags.
- Faux leather tiles → the most creative method: arrange them in patchwork patterns and apply as a decorative panel. For those who love precision work and colour contrasts.

Frequently asked questions
What are bag charms?
Bag charms are small decorative accessories — metal pendants, laser-cut wood decorations, tassels — that clip onto the bag via a carabiner or a ring. They are interchangeable: you can swap charms to match the occasion or your outfit without altering the bag itself.
How do you attach fringes to a crochet bag?
Bag fringes are sewn with a needle and thread to the top edge, flap or side seams of the bag. Leather fringes with pre-made holes can be crocheted directly through the openings. Feather fringes have a satin edging that makes invisible stitching easy.
How to embellish a crochet bag?
Three ways: (1) clip on a charm or pendant via a carabiner — the quickest and most interchangeable; (2) sew on a fringe along the edge — feathers for glamour, leather for a rock look, raffia for a summery touch; (3) arrange a panel of faux leather tiles — for a unique patchwork decorative insert. Finish off with a personalised handmade label.
