Amigurumi — Kits, Yarns & Accessories for Dolls
Quick overview: Tessiland's amigurumi section brings together everything you need to create crochet dolls and toys: complete kits from DMC and Anchor (yarn + pattern + stuffing), dedicated cotton yarns (Happy Cotton, Happy Chenille), safety eyes (fixed, moving, cat pupil), noses and doll hair and polyester fibre stuffing. Everything to go from pattern to finished toy.
Amigurumi are three-dimensional dolls, animals and objects crocheted by hand — a Japanese technique that's become a worldwide crochet phenomenon. They're worked in the round with tight single crochet stitches, stuffed and completed with eyes, noses and details. Tessiland offers all the supplies in one place: from ready-to-go kits for beginners to individual components for experienced makers.
Why buy amigurumi supplies from Tessiland? Because you'll find yarns specifically designed for amigurumi (compact cotton that holds its shape and doesn't let stuffing show through), certified safety eyes (with locking washer — they don't come off), realistic noses and hypoallergenic polyester fibre stuffing. Not generic materials adapted: products designed for amigurumi.

All Amigurumi Supplies
Every amigurumi needs yarn, eyes, a nose and stuffing. Tessiland organises everything into dedicated sections:
How to Start with Amigurumi
For your first amigurumi you need just 4 things: a cotton yarn (Happy Cotton is the most popular), a crochet hook in 3-4 mm, polyester stuffing and safety eyes. Or a complete kit that includes everything.
The basic technique is the magic ring: start from a loop, work single crochet stitches in a spiral, increasing and decreasing to create shapes. Then stuff, insert eyes and nose and sew the pieces together. Anchor and DMC kits include the step-by-step illustrated pattern.

BUYING GUIDE: amigurumi supplies
Three questions to choose the right supplies.
1. Complete kit or individual supplies?
- Complete kit: yarn + pattern + stuffing in a box. Ideal for beginners and gifts
- Individual supplies: choose yarn, eyes, nose and stuffing separately. For your own patterns and full freedom
2. Which yarn for amigurumi?
- Cotton (Happy Cotton): the most popular — compact, washable, 60+ colours. Hook size 3-3.5 mm
- Chenille (Happy Chenille): for soft, fluffy amigurumi — plush effect. Hook size 4 mm
3. Fixed or moving eyes?
- Fixed with washer: won't come off. The standard for amigurumi intended for children
- Moving: the pupil moves (fun effect). For decorative amigurumi, not for young children
Frequently asked questions
What are amigurumi?
Amigurumi (from Japanese "ami" = crochet + "nuigurumi" = stuffed toy) are small three-dimensional dolls, animals and objects crocheted by hand. They're worked in tight single crochet stitches in a spiral, stuffed with polyester fibre and completed with eyes, noses and sewn or glued details.
Are amigurumi suitable for beginners?
Yes, they're one of the most accessible projects for crochet beginners. The basic technique is the magic ring + single crochet — just two stitches to learn. Anchor and DMC kits include step-by-step illustrated patterns and all the materials needed.
Are amigurumi safe for children?
Yes, with the right materials. For children under 3: use embroidered eyes (no small detachable parts), hypoallergenic stuffing and washable cotton yarn. For over 3s: fixed safety eyes with locking washer are the standard — they won't come off even when pulled.
Can you wash amigurumi?
Yes, if made in cotton or acrylic: hand-wash in lukewarm water with mild soap, squeeze gently in a towel and dry flat. Polyester fibre stuffing dries completely and won't go mouldy.
