Bra Cups for Swimwear and Crochet Bikinis
Quick overview: Tessiland bra cups are sew-in cups for swimwear, crochet bikinis, tops and handmade bras. Four shapes — drop, round, wrap and triple push up — plus a pre-holed version for crochet. Colours: white, flesh, black. Sizes 1 to 5 (S–XL). Bikini clips complete the range with decorative connectors to link the cups in style.
Bra cups are the component that turns a knit or crochet piece into a real swimsuit — wearable, supportive and well-fitting. Tessiland offers swimwear cups in different shapes, all with preformed padding and ready to hand-sew: just fix them inside the work with needle and thread, and your swimsuit has the support of a ready-made garment.
The same sew-in bra cups also work for summer tops, bralettes, bodice dresses and handmade bras — any project requiring an anatomical cup with padding. The "crochet" version with pre-punched holes along the edge is designed specifically for crochet work: hook the yarn directly into the holes without any sewing.

CHOOSING GUIDE: sew-in bra cups
Three questions to choose the right cups for your project.
1. What shape?
- Drop: rounded triangle, the most versatile — works for triangle bikinis, bandeaus and one-piece swimsuits. Natural profile with light padding
- Round: circular with full coverage — ideal for bandeau swimwear, straight-neckline tops and full-coverage bras
- Wrap: contoured, follows the bust curve with soft edges — for crossover bikinis and close-fitting tops
- Triple push up: three padding layers for a volumising effect — for those wanting a fuller, lifted bust
2. What size?
- Size 1 / S: corresponds to an A cup
- Size 2 / M: corresponds to a B cup
- Size 3 / L: corresponds to a C cup
- Size 4: corresponds to a D cup
- Size 5: corresponds to an E cup
If in doubt choose the smaller size: a slightly smaller cup fits more snugly inside crochet work than one that's too large.
3. Sewing or direct crochet?
- Hand sewing (all shapes): place the cup inside the finished work and sew with needle and thread along the edge. Universal method
- Direct crochet hook-on (Crochet version only): pre-punched holes let you hook the yarn and build the bikini directly from the cup as a base. Faster, no needle and thread needed
Frequently asked questions
How do you sew bra cups into a crochet swimsuit?
Place the cup inside the triangle or band of the swimsuit, domed side facing out. Pin in place and sew with needle and thread (flesh colour or matching the swimsuit) all around the cup edge, using backstitch or slip stitch. Allow 10-15 minutes per cup. For the pre-holed "Crochet" cups the method is different: hook the yarn directly into the holes with your crochet hook and build the bikini structure starting from the cup as a base.
Do the cups withstand washing and seawater?
Yes, Tessiland cups are designed for aquatic use: they withstand chlorine, salt and hand washing in cold water. After pool or sea use, rinse the swimsuit in fresh water and dry in the shade (prolonged direct sun may yellow the white). The padding holds its shape — it won't distort with washing if treated with care.
What is the difference between drop and round cups?
The drop has a rounded triangle shape (taller than wide), with a point that follows the natural bustline — it's the best choice for triangle bikinis and swimwear that follows the body's contours. The round is perfectly circular, with even coverage in all directions — it works better for bandeau swimsuits, straight-neckline tops and bras needing symmetrical, full coverage.
What yarn is used for a crochet swimsuit?
For a swimsuit you can actually wear in water you need a yarn that's resistant to chlorine, sun and saltwater — not all cottons are suitable. Tessiland Splash yarn is designed specifically for swimwear: 100% microfibre Made in Italy, stretch, quick-drying. Works with a 3-3.5 mm crochet hook. The cups are inserted once the work is finished (sewn) or used as a starting base (pre-holed version).
