Rings for Crochet Bags
Quick overview: Bag rings for crochet bags in Made in Italy metal: oval, rectangular, semi-circular (open and closed), triangular with carabiner hook and D-rings. Strap adjusters (sliding buckles) complete the range for adjusting strap length. Materials: zamak, iron and brass — silver, gold and gunmetal finishes. Sold in pairs or sets.
Bag rings are the components that connect strap and handles to the body of the bag. Without rings the strap can't attach, the handle can't fix, the bag doesn't close. Tessiland offers rings in different shapes and sizes — each designed for a different type of attachment — all in Made in Italy metal, sturdy with quality finishes.
Whether you're making a crochet bag with cord, a tote in t-shirt yarn or a rigid clutch, here you'll find the right bag ring: from the classic oval to the D-ring, from the open semi-circular (thread the cord through without sewing) to the triangular with carabiner hook fitting. All pair with Tessiland straps, handles and carabiners.
Rings — Connect Handles and Straps
Oval, rectangular, semi-circular and triangular metal rings. Fix to the bag body (sewn, threaded into the cord or hooked on) and hold the strap carabiner or handle. More shapes = more bag styles.
Strap Adjusters — Set the Length
Metal sliding buckles that sit on the strap to adjust its length. Available in multiple sizes (25, 29, 30, 40 mm) and finishes (silver, gold, gunmetal). Essential for adjustable crossbody straps.

How to Use the Rings
The ring fixes to the bag body in three ways, depending on the bag type and material:
Faux leather tab → fold a strip of faux leather around the ring and sew it inside the bag. The most popular method for t-shirt yarn and cord bags: clean, sturdy, professional. The Tessiland faux leather ring holders are ready for this use.
Crocheted into the cord → during crochet work, thread the open ring (open semi-circular) straight into a round of stitches and carry on working around it. The ring stays embedded in the bag fabric. Quick method, nothing to sew afterwards.
Hand sewn → for closed rings on finished bags, sew the ring on with needle and strong thread through the bag fabric. Works with all ring types.

CHOOSING GUIDE: rings for bags
Three questions to choose the right ring for your bag.
1. What shape?
- Oval: the universal shape, matches everything. The safe choice if you're not sure which to pick
- Rectangular / D-ring: holds the strap steadier and more aligned — for structured bags, backpacks, messenger bags
- Open semi-circular: threads into the cord during crochet work without sewing — the handiest for handmade bags
- Closed semi-circular: welded, stronger — fixes with a faux leather tab or stitching
- Triangular: fitted for carabiner hook — for bags with detachable, interchangeable strap
2. What size?
- 20-25 mm: for narrow straps and slim handles — clutches, small bags
- 30 mm: medium size, the most used — medium bags, totes, bucket bags
- 40 mm: for wide straps and broad handles — large bags, backpacks, travel bags
The ring size should match the width of the strap passing through it.
3. What finish?
- Silver: the most neutral finish, pairs with light and dark cords
- Gold: for elegant, evening bags, or with warm-toned cords (beige, camel, brown)
- Gunmetal: dark satin finish, modern urban look — for black and grey bags
Practical rule: choose the same finish for rings, carabiners and strap adjuster on the same bag — mixing finishes shows.
Frequently asked questions
How do you fix a ring to a crochet bag?
The quickest method is open semi-circular rings: during crochet work, when you reach the point where the ring goes, thread the opening into the round of stitches and carry on working around it. The ring stays embedded in the fabric. For closed rings, the classic method is a faux leather tab: fold a strip of faux leather around the ring, sew it inside the bag with needle and thread, and the ring sticks out from the edge ready for the strap.
What's the difference between oval and rectangular rings?
The oval is the most versatile: the continuous curve lets the strap slide freely and adjust to any angle — the right pick for soft bags and straps that need to move. The rectangular (D-ring) has a flat side that fixes to the tab and a curved side where the strap slides: it holds the strap steadier, stopping it from rotating. Perfect for structured bags and backpacks where the strap must stay in position.
How many rings do I need for a bag?
It depends on the bag type: a bag with a single strap needs 2 rings (one per side). A bag with strap + handles needs 4 rings (2 for the strap + 2 for the handles) or 2 triangle rings that hold both the strap carabiner and the handle. Strap adjusters always come in 2 (one per side of the strap).
How do I pick the strap adjuster size?
The strap adjuster size must match the strap width: if the strap is 25 mm wide, pick the 25 mm adjuster. A strap narrower than the adjuster will slip and won't hold position; a wider one won't fit. For Tessiland straps the width is listed on the product page — pick the matching adjuster.
