How to choose merino wool for babies
Baby merino wool is chosen based on the final use and the yarn structure you're looking for. Charlotte and Justin BabyPro are both 100% extrafine superwash merino: Charlotte is softer and more silky, ideal for lightweight blankets; Justin BabyPro has a more consistent twist, better for sweaters and garments that need to hold their shape. Justin Baby is the long-standing classic version, preferred by those who work on needles in smaller sizes. Mark, with its silk component, adds sheen and an even more precious touch — best for gifts and special projects.
The range also includes non-merino baby yarns: Baby King (very soft, washable, practical), Celux and Superkate (soft blend in vibrant colors) and Verve (hypoallergenic microfiber). Complementary yarns for those seeking alternatives to natural fiber or with different budget needs.

Frequently Asked Questions about Baby Merino Wool
Is merino wool suitable for newborns? Does it itch?
Extrafine merino wool has a much thinner fiber than regular wool — it barely itches, even on a newborn's skin. It is the most widely used natural fiber for first-infancy garments precisely for this reason.
Can I machine wash baby merino wool garments?
Charlotte and Justin BabyPro are superwash treated: machine washable at 30°C on a delicate/wool cycle. Justin Baby and Mark require hand washing or a specific wool program — always check the product label.
How many balls do I need for a baby blanket?
For a standard baby blanket (about 80×80 cm) knitted with extrafine merino wool, you generally need 4–6 balls of 50g, depending on the stitch and needles used. For a thicker crocheted blanket, count 6–8 balls. Always buy one extra ball: the same dye lot ensures color consistency.
What is the difference between Charlotte and Justin Baby?
Both are extrafine merino wool, but Charlotte has a softer, silkier structure — ideal for lightweight blankets. Justin Baby has a slightly more consistent twist, better suited for sweaters and garments that need to hold their shape over time.
