Let us introduce you to Paros, the fish-shaped trivet inspired by the colors and atmosphere of the Greek island of the same name: bright white, deep blue, and a touch of sunny yellow. This project captures all the freshness of summer and is perfect for those who love to decorate their table with creativity.

Paros: the step-by-step crochet tutorial

A project that grows round after round, alternating single crochets, double crochets, half-double crochets, and puff stitches, in a play of increases and decreases that creates a fun and useful shape… that of a stylized fish to use as a trivet or a hanging decoration.

Recommended materials:

• Drake medium cotton yarn (white, light blue, yellow)
• Crochet hook suitable for yarn size 3.5 mm
• Darning needle
• Scissors
• A pinch of patience and a strong desire for summer!

Pattern – Fish body

Work in the round following the sequence of rounds:

Round 1: magic ring, 9 single crochets

Round 2: increases in stitches 1, 5, and 9

Round 3: increases in stitches 1, 6, and 12, 1 sc in all other stitches

Round 4: ch 1, increases in stitches 1, 7, and 14

Round 5: increases in stitches 1, 8, and 16

Round 6: increases in stitches 1, 9, and 18

Round 7: (half double crochet) increases in stitches 1, 10, and 20

Round 8: increases in stitches 1, 11, and 22 (still half double crochets)

Round 9: alternate 1 sc and 1 dc

Round 10: 1 sc all around

TAIL – Worked in rows, back and forth

Start: 18 chains

Row 1: go back working 1 sc

Row 2: ch 1, 16 sc, 1 decrease, turn

Work in back loops only except for the first and last stitch

Row 3: ch 1, 1 dec, 15 sc

Row 4: ch 1, 14 sc, 1 dec, turn

Row 5: ch 1, 1 dec, 13 sc, turn

Row 6: ch 1, 1 dec, 11 sc, turn

Row 7: ch 1, 1 dec, 11 sc, turn

Row 8: ch 1, 10 sc, 1 dec, turn

Row 9: ch 1, 1 dec, 9 sc, turn

Row 10: ch 1, 9 sc, 1 inc, turn

Row 11: ch 1, 1 inc, 9 sc, turn

Row 12: ch 1, 10 sc, 1 inc, turn

Row 13: ch 1, 1 inc, 11 sc, turn

Row 14: ch 1, 12 sc, 1 inc, turn

Row 15: ch 1, 1 inc, 13 sc, turn

Row 17: work all stitches as normal, cut the yarn and sew it to the body with a darning needle.

Final detail: the eye

To complete the fish, make a small circle using yellow yarn to simulate the eye. You can make it with a few single crochets around a magic ring, or with a small embroidered stitch.
