Cables for Circular Needles KnitPro
Quick guide: Cables for circular needles KnitPro are the interchangeable cables that connect the tips of the KnitPro system: they screw onto the tips to create the circular needle of the length you need, from 40 to 150 cm. Available in the coloured version with accessories, 360° swivel and with key and end caps, plus the connectors to join several cables. The tips and complete sets are in the metal circular needles section.
Cables for circular needles are the heart of the KnitPro interchangeable system: on their own they don't knit, but they are what turns a pair of tips into a circular needle of the exact length you need. They screw onto the KnitPro tips with a simple gesture and let you change the working circumference without buying a new needle every time. Tessiland offers the complete range of KnitPro circular needle cables: coloured cables with accessories, 360° swivel cables, cables with key and end caps, and the connectors to join two cables.
Why do you need different cables? It depends on the project. A poncho or a blanket in the round needs a long cable (100-150 cm), a hat or a sleeve a short cable (40-60 cm). With a set of cables of different lengths and a set of tips you cover any work in the round or flat. The interchangeable tips and complete sets with case are in the metal circular needles section.
What Interchangeable Cables Are
They are the flexible cables that connect the KnitPro tips to form the circular needle. They screw onto the tips of the same line and are replaced in a few seconds: a single set of tips plus several cables of different lengths covers every project.
Which Length to Choose
The cable length determines the working circumference: 40-60 cm for hats and sleeves, 80-100 cm for sweaters and shawls, 120-150 cm for ponchos and blankets in the round or for the magic loop technique.

How the Interchangeable System Works
The advantage of KnitPro interchangeable circular needles lies entirely in the cables. Instead of buying a fixed circular needle for every combination of size and length, you buy the tips once (one per size) and several cables of different lengths. When knitting, you screw the right-size tip onto the right-length cable: in a few seconds you have the exact circular needle your project needs. With the same set of tips you can move from a hat (short cable) to a blanket (long cable with connector) without spending more. That's why cables are also the most requested spare part: they wear out before the tips, and it's normal to keep some in reserve.

CHOICE GUIDE: which cable for circular needles
Three questions to choose the right cable for your project.
1. What circumference should the work have?
- 40-60 cm: hats, sleeves, children's projects
- 80-100 cm: sweaters, cardigans, shawls
- 120-150 cm (or two cables + connector): ponchos, blankets, garments in the round with many stitches
2. Do you knit for a long time in the round?
- Yes, many stitches: choose the 360° swivel cable — it never twists
- Short projects: the standard coloured cable is more than enough
3. Do you need just the cable or the accessories too?
- Cable replacement only: coloured or swivel cable
- Complete kit: cable with key and end caps, ready to use
- Extra length: add the connectors to join two cables
Frequently asked questions about cables for circular needles
Which cables are compatible with KnitPro circular needles?
Cables for circular needles KnitPro are compatible with all interchangeable tips of the same line (Nova, Zing and the other KnitPro series with standard thread). They screw onto the tips with a simple gesture. Always check that tip and cable belong to the KnitPro interchangeable system and not to fixed-cable needles.
Which cable length should I choose?
The cable length determines the minimum working circumference. As a rule: 40-60 cm for hats and sleeves, 80-100 cm for sweaters and shawls, 120-150 cm for ponchos, blankets and the magic loop technique. If you often knit in the round, it's worth having several cables of different lengths to pair with the same set of tips.
Can I extend circular needles by joining two cables?
Yes. The connectors for circular needles join two KnitPro cables to obtain a length greater than the standard cables. It's the ideal solution for blankets, wide ponchos and garments in the round with very many stitches, without having to buy a dedicated extra-long cable.
What are the key and end caps included with the cable for?
The key firmly tightens the tips to the cable and prevents them from unscrewing during work; the end caps screw onto the cable ends to lock the stitches when you pause the project, so the stitches don't slip off. The cable with key and end caps is therefore the most complete option, ideal also as a spare.
