Which Fabric Strap to Choose for Your Bag
The choice depends on the bag type and intended use. Cordura webbing handles the weight of roomy shoppers and backpacks: the technical fabric won't stretch even under heavy loads. Braided cotton cords are perfect for summer bags and country designs where the natural look matters more than carrying capacity. Patterned straps with an adjustable buckle change the bag's character for any occasion — from the geometric Bands to the Cheope with its Egyptian motif.
All Tessiland fabric straps attach with standard snap hooks: buy the strap, clip it on and you're ready. To switch styles just unclip and reclip — in under ten seconds you go from casual to patterned.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which fabric is strongest for heavy bags?
Prym cordura: it's a 3 cm wide technical fabric designed to bear significant loads without stretching. If your bag weighs more than a kilo empty (large shoppers, backpacks), cordura is the right pick.
How do you attach a fabric strap to the bag?
The adjustable patterned straps come with snap hooks included: they clip straight onto the bag's rings or loops. Webbing and cords sold by the metre are cut to the desired length and secured with snap hooks purchased separately in the dedicated section.
Can fabric straps be washed?
Cordura webbing and cotton cords can be hand-washed in cold water with mild soap, then left to dry flat. Patterned straps with a metal buckle should only be wiped with a damp cloth to avoid damaging the metal parts.
