GUIDE: which glue should you choose?
You want to fix decorations onto fabric quickly
- Hot Glue Gun Thermofusion: the fastest and most versatile — bonds fabrics, ribbons, fringe and trims in seconds. Best for large projects and high-volume work.
- Silicone refills 11mm or 7mm: specific refills compatible with the Thermofusion gun.
You want a permanent, washable textile adhesive
- Gutermann Textile Glue: transparent, washable, flexible — for bonding ribbons, lace and trims onto fabric without sewing. Doesn't stiffen the fabric.
You want to bond rhinestones, crystals or jewellery components
- Hasulith Jewellery Glue 30ml: the professional standard for DIY jewellery — dries clear, no yellowing, high resistance to moisture and abrasion.
- Jewellery Glue 30ml (alternative): similar formulation, available in this same category.
Frequently asked questions about craft glue
Which glue should I use for DIY jewellery?
For DIY jewellery, the jewellery glue 30ml and Hasulith are the right choice, both formulated for bonding rhinestones, stones, metals and resins. They dry transparent and hold the weight of components without yellowing. For applications on fabric or felt, the hot glue gun is more practical and faster.
How does the hot glue gun work?
The hot glue gun melts the silicone refill sticks until fluid. Insert the refill into the rear chamber, switch the gun on, and after about 3-5 minutes the glue is ready. Press the trigger to dispense the molten glue, apply to the material and press: it sets in a few seconds. Always work on a protected surface — the glue is very hot.
Which refills work with the Tessiland glue gun?
The Tessiland hot glue gun is compatible with silicone refills in two diameters: 11mm × 300mm (standard refills) and 7mm × 200mm (mini refills for compact guns). Both sizes are available in this same category.
Is Gutermann glue washable?
Yes. Gutermann creative glue dries wash-resistant — it can be machine washed at moderate temperatures (up to 40°C) without the adhesive dissolving or peeling. It remains flexible when dry, so it doesn't stiffen the fabric or create rigid patches. For best results, allow to dry completely for 24 hours before the first wash.
