Metal Handles for Crochet Bags
Quick overview: Metal handles for bags — crochet and handmade: rigid, elegant and indestructible. Arched, circular, hexagonal, trapezoid and pearl shapes — in gold, silver and gunmetal finish. Sold in pairs, from €3.90. For all available materials see the handles parent category.
Metal bag handles are the choice for anyone who wants a rigid handle that gives the bag structure and a jewellery look to the finished project. They don't bend, don't wear, don't change colour: a metal handle outlasts the bag itself. Perfect for crochet bags with metal handles — clutches, evening bags and handbags — where the handle is part of the design, not just a functional detail.
Tessiland offers metal handles in several geometric shapes: classic arched, circular with flat base, hexagonal, trapezoid, and with pearl insert. Available in gold, silver and gunmetal finish. All sold in pairs (except the single Luna and Kate models).

How to Attach Metal Handles to Your Bag
The metal handle is worked directly into the bag fabric:
Ring handles (arched, circular, hexagonal, trapezoid): wrap the crochet fabric around the handle with a round of single crochet on the last row — the fabric covers the metal and the handle becomes part of the structure. Alternatively, secure with cord or clip on with bridges.
Handles with tabs (oval with tabs): the side tabs sew directly onto the fabric — quick assembly and secure hold without wrapping the handle.
Long handles (Luna, Kate): steel cable with coating — clip on with carabiners or stitch at the ends. Perfect for shoulder bags.

Frequently asked questions
How do you crochet a bag with metal handles?
Crochet the bag and on the last round wrap single crochets directly around the metal handle: the fabric covers the metal and the handle becomes part of the structure. For handles with tabs simply sew the tabs to the fabric edge. For long handles (Luna, Kate) clip them on with carabiners to the bag loops.
Which metal handle is best for a clutch?
For an evening clutch, pearl handles or gold arched handles give an instant jewellery effect. For a casual clutch, hexagonal or trapezoid handles in gunmetal give a modern, geometric look. For a larger clutch bag, circular handles with flat base offer stability and a comfortable grip.
