Tunisian Crochet Hooks Prym, Pony & Knit Pro Set
Tunisian crochet hook: which model to choose
Tunisian crochet combines knitting and crochet: you always work from the right side, picking up stitches on a longer-than-usual hook and closing them on a return pass. This technique needs a specific Tunisian crochet hook — longer, often with a stopper or double end so the stitches don't slide off. At Tessiland you'll find the Prym and Pony models in aluminium and wood, plus the Knit Pro set with all sizes interchangeable. For the full range of crochet hooks — ergonomic, metal or wooden — start from the Crochet hooks page.

How to choose your Tunisian crochet hook
Material — aluminium (Prym, Pony) is lightweight and smooth, ideal for long sessions; Prym wood gives more grip and control, with an interchangeable cable for larger projects like blankets and afghans.
Hook type — a double-ended hook lets you work in the round and on continuous patterns without ever turning your work; a stopper end holds the stitches in the classic back-and-forth Tunisian technique.
Single hook or set — for one specific project, a single hook is enough; to explore different sizes and techniques, the Knit Pro set with 8 interchangeable sizes covers every need.
Looking for a more affordable aluminium option? We also have the Pony double-ended Tunisian crochet hook and the Pony Tunisian crochet hook with stopper. To find the right yarn to pair with it, take a look at our yarns.

What's the difference between a double-ended and a stopper Tunisian crochet hook?
A double-ended hook has a hook at each end: it lets you work in the round and on continuous patterns without turning your work. A stopper hook has a single hook and a stop at the other end, designed for the classic back-and-forth Tunisian technique.
What's the interchangeable cable on the wooden hook for?
It connects to the end of the wooden needle and increases the number of stitches you can hold in progress: useful for blankets, afghans and large projects that would be awkward to manage with a short hook.
Which Tunisian crochet hook should I choose to get started?
For beginners, an aluminium model (Pony or Prym) is lightweight, smooth and affordable. If you want to try different sizes and projects right away, the complete Knit Pro set covers everything from 3.5 to 8 mm.
Is Tunisian crochet beginner-friendly?
Yes: it's a technique halfway between knitting and crochet, always worked from the same side without turning your work. A Tunisian crochet hook and a medium-weight yarn are all you need to start; to choose between ergonomic, metal and wooden hooks, see our Crochet hooks page.
