In a nutshell: snap hooks, screw clasps, magnetic and toggle clasps, wire stoppers and knot covers — the clasps for your DIY necklaces and bracelets
Clasps and snap hooks for necklaces and bracelets are the detail that decides whether a creation lasts over time or falls apart at first use. In this section you'll find snap hooks in both classic and charm versions, screw clasps for maximum security, magnetic clasps for bracelets that are practical for everyday wear, and toggle clasps for a decorative touch, plus wire stoppers and knot covers to finish every knot — all in gold and silver finish, nickel-free, also sold individually.
From Clasp to Finished Necklace or Bracelet: What Else Do You Need?
Once you've chosen the right clasp, the next step is connecting it to the other components of your necklace or bracelet: for that you need rings and hoops for jewelry, perfect for attaching charms, beads and pendants to the clasp, and headpins and crimp beads, useful for finishing wire and cord ends cleanly and securely. If you're looking for other jewelry-making components — bases to cover, spacers, rhinestone chain — you'll find everything in the jewelry accessories section.
Buying Guide
Snap Hook or Screw Clasp: Which Is Safer?
For everyday use and quick opening, the snap hook is the most practical choice. If the creation is meant as a gift or for a more delicate use — rigid bracelets, heavy necklaces with beads or crystals — the screw clasp gives you an edge: once screwed shut, it won't open by accident.
When Is a Magnetic Clasp the Right Choice?
A magnetic clasp is ideal for anyone who puts on and takes off jewelry often, or for those with limited hand mobility: just bring the two parts together and it closes itself with a click, with no rings or hooks to open.
What Are Wire Stoppers and Knot Covers For?
The wire stopper is applied before the clasp: it secures the wire or cord in the right position and stops beads and components from sliding off. The knot cover, on the other hand, hides the final knot of the thread, leaving only the loop visible to attach the snap hook.

✨ TESSILAND STUDIOFrequently Asked Questions about Clasps and Snap Hooks for Necklaces and Bracelets
What's the safest clasp for a bracelet?
A screw clasp is generally the safest, because once screwed shut it won't open by accident. For quicker everyday use, a good-quality snap hook is still a reliable choice.
Do magnetic clasps come undone on their own?
No, the magnet is strong enough to withstand normal use: it separates only with gentle pulling, like when you take the jewelry off.
What is a wire stopper for?
The wire stopper is crimped onto the wire or cord before the snap hook: it secures the position and stops beads and components from sliding off.
Are these clasps suitable for people with metal allergies?
Yes, many of the clasps and wire stoppers in this category are nickel-free, designed to be worn against the skin without risk of allergic reactions.
Can I use a charm snap hook as a decorative element?
Yes: snap hooks with a charm work as a clasp while also adding a small decorative pendant, becoming part of the design of the necklace or bracelet.
What is a toggle clasp and when is it used?
A toggle clasp is made up of a bar and a ring: the bar slides sideways through the ring and stays in place, both functionally and as a visible decorative detail of the creation.
