Since the rounded tip does not penetrate the fibers but rather parts them, blunt needles are particularly suitable for embroidering with coarser materials such as wool. The needles with a symmetrically punched eye are made of burr-free hardened steel. For threading thicker yarns or wool, the eye is correspondingly large on embroidery needles.
